Getting started
How do I create my first project? +
Launch Debut and click the + button on the project list screen. Name your project, upload your app icon, then choose your target languages and device sizes. You can change any of these settings later.
How do I add my app screenshots to the canvas? +
In the editor, select the Device Frame layer in the left panel. In the right properties panel, click the screenshot area and pick a file — or drag an image directly onto the device frame on the canvas. Debut auto-fits it to the screen bounds.
How do I apply a template to all my screens at once? +
Click the Templates button in the toolbar. Choose a layout and click "Apply to all N screens." Each screen gets the layout applied while keeping its own screenshot and copy.
Localization
How do I add translations for each language? +
Select a Text layer on the canvas. In the right panel, you'll see a "Localized Copy" section with a row for each language you've added to the project. Click any row to type the translation for that locale. The canvas shows whichever language is selected in the bottom Preview Language switcher.
How do I preview a specific language? +
Use the language switcher at the bottom of the canvas. Clicking any language code immediately updates all text layers to show that locale's copy.
What languages are supported? +
Debut supports the 10 most common App Store locales: English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Arabic. Arabic automatically switches the canvas to RTL layout.
Export
How does batch export work? +
Click Export in the toolbar. Check the languages, device sizes, and screens you want. Pick an output folder. Debut renders every combination — language × size × screen — and saves them organized like: OutputFolder/en/6.9inch/01_Hero.png. Ready to drag into App Store Connect.
What sizes does Debut export? +
iPhone 6.9" (1320×2868), iPhone 6.5" (1242×2688), iPhone 5.5" (1242×2208), and iPad Pro 13" (2048×2732). App Store Connect requires 6.9" and 5.5" as minimums for iPhone apps.
Does the export quality match the canvas preview? +
Yes. Export uses the same CoreGraphics pipeline as the preview, re-rendered at full resolution. What you see in the editor is exactly what ships.
Subscriptions & purchases
How does the 7-day free trial work? +
Start any paid plan and you won't be charged for 7 days. Cancel before the trial ends in System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Debut and you won't be billed.
I switched Macs. How do I restore my purchase? +
Open Debut → Preferences → Restore Purchases. Sign in with the same Apple ID and your Pro access restores instantly. Your project files are separate — move them from ~/Documents/Debut/ manually or via iCloud Drive.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Go to System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Debut → Cancel. You keep Pro access until the end of the billing period. We can't cancel on our end — Apple manages all billing.
How do I request a refund? +
Refunds go through Apple: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find the Debut charge, and request a refund there.
Data & files
Where are my project files stored? +
All projects are saved to ~/Documents/Debut/Projects/ as JSON files. You can open them in any text editor, back them up to iCloud or Time Machine, or commit them to git. Debut never uploads them.
What happens if I delete Debut? +
Your project files in ~/Documents/Debut/ are not deleted when you uninstall the app. You keep them. Reinstall Debut and it finds them automatically.
Does Debut collect any analytics? +
No. Debut has no analytics, no crash reporting SDK, and no telemetry of any kind. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
